Tessa Elwood discovered a passion for photography about 4 years ago. Having heard the saying “A picture is worth a thousand words,” Tessa wanted to try creating a story through photography. She found that it is surprisingly difficult to tell a story with pictures. While this is difficult, it is also Tessa’s favorite part of photography. “Many photographers focus on their own visions of the subject they are shooting.” Tessa does not. She loves catching the subjects’ natural expressions, having to think on her feet to find each subjects best angle and best light. She understands that what works with one subject may not be best for another subject, whether it is a person or an inanimate object. To help determine what will work best, Tessa likes talking during her photo shoots. Tessa finds that the more people are focused on what is being said, the less they think about the camera, and the more natural they are.
Tessa’s photography is stylized storytelling. In addition to taking pictures to capture the moment, she carefully edits the images to ensure each expression captured is brought out. You will often see wide angle close-ups of her subjects and very detailed editing. Tessa is excited to use her creative styles to help with the Why Pink campaign.
